It was a short week, dominated mainly by AI headlines. To say Nvidia, the world’s largest chipmaker for artificial intelligence, is booming right now wouldn’t do it justice.
Around Nvidia’s investor update, we enjoyed the drama of the OpenAI saga. The company behind ChatGPT, arguably the most important AI company in the world, decided to dump its CEO abruptly. Microsoft, OpenAI’s biggest investor, took the CEO in with open arms, but after OpenAI’s employees revolted, the CEO was welcomed back. Investors muscled out the existing board, and Microsoft ended up in a better position than before.
Beyond that, it might be a good time to remind everyone that the stock market is not the economy. Our Explained this week will dive into questions about investing through a recession.
