🌎 The Big Picture
Uncertainty is still the word, but people have calmed down a bit about it without any major announcements this week.
Whether it’s the uncertainty or just a pretty weak economy that couldn’t handle more negativity, small businesses and consumers are both pulling back on spending. Living costs have been high and climbing, and now people are really worried about worsening inflation.
Besides the federal government, employers seem to be hanging onto their workers, but they’re not hiring much.
There’s some progress in the housing market, with a lot more new and existing homes coming for sale after a long period of shortages. That’s not helping bring prices down yet, though. Mortgage costs have come down a little bit.
I usually have some optimism for you, but the short-term outlook is pretty messy.
