Thirteen states’ Attorneys General last week wrote an open letter to the CEOs of America’s biggest companies, accusing them of racial discrimination by promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) policies and implementing race-based quotas in hiring, contracting, promotion, and other activities. While corporate America is still heavily dominated by white men, executives face increasing pressure to align their policies with the multifarious values of their stakeholders. Doing so gets more complicated every day.
