Markets plunged today as investors panicked about increasing covid infection rates around the world. As countries reinstate covid restrictions, investors worry about a bad combination of slowing growth and high inflation. Consumer and business prices spiked higher in June than they have in decades. Investors worry persistent inflation might cause policymakers to cut stimulus as the recovery stalls. The National Bureau of Economic Research declared today that the coronavirus recession beginning April 2020 only lasted two months. So, we've already recovered...

An “all stock” deal is when one company chooses to buy another company using their own stock as the exchanged value. If Company Z buys Company F with stock, everyone who owns shares in Company F will be traded an equivalent value of Company Z shares. It’s great for Company Z because it doesn’t have to have billions in cash lying around to make an acquisition. It’s also a great example of how companies benefit from higher share prices. If their stock goes up, they have more value that they can wield for big transactions.
