Inflation is the reason we can't buy a coke for 25 cents anymore. It's a measure of the rate of decline in purchasing power of our dollars. Many of the headlines sound scary, but inflation itself is not scary. It's a natural part of a healthy, growing economy. If it were to move the other way, and our dollars bought more stuff the longer we waited, we would have a greater incentive to hold our dollars instead of spending them. That would send the economy into major trouble. Investors are worried about
too much
inflation. We want the economy warm, but not hot.
