A huge rebound in consumer spending kicked economic growth into high gear this quarter & brought us almost back to pre-pandemic economic strength. The US economy grew at an annualized 6.4% for the first quarter. Add in reports of big profits from big tech, & investors go nuts.

Reminder...

Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the way economists measure the size of our economy. It's basically how much stuff we produce. Typically, the more useful measure is GDP growth, which tells us how fast our economy is growing. It's quoted as an annualized number, which means it's not how much we grew in three months. It's how much we would grow over a year if we grow this fast for a full year.
