Markets stumbled today after the strongest two-day rally in years. Investors are still worried about economic growth and persistent inflation.

CEOs are expecting a significant recession

. A survey of 400 leaders of large US companies by KPMG showed 91% are preparing for a recession within the next twelve months, and only 34% think it will be short and mild.

The highest mortgage rates in over 20 years have sapped homebuyer demand.

The Mortgage Bankers Association reported mortgage volumes at the lowest level since 1997, with new home applications down 37% from a year ago.

Oil exporting countries are trying to keep prices high.

Oil prices are rising again after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its Russia-led allies agreed to cut global oil production by nearly 2%.
