Markets retreated from yesterday's significant gains for no major reason. Investors are trying to figure out how the Federal Reserve's new plan will affect the economy and different industries. The Federal Reserve, aka the Central Bank, announced yesterday that they would remove the emergency stimulus measures more quickly. They see strong growth in 2022 but worry that inflation might continue longer than initially expected. Initial unemployment claims stayed low last week, around 200,000. According to the Census Bureau, the number of new housing project starts in November jumped 12% from October. Building companies are still struggling with supplies and labor shortages, though.

🤓 Inside Scoop...
An Initial Public Offering (IPO), aka "going public," refers to the first time a company asks us regular people to invest. Before that, you had to know somebody or have a ton of money to get behind the red rope. They sell shares of their company to the open market in exchange for our cash. Companies can use that cash for all sorts of things, typically to build out their business further. It also makes it easy for any previous investor or early employee to sell their existing shares on the market.
